It’s official, summer is over and it’s only July! Where for art thou sun! Please come back! But having a Sunday roast at Barluga Newcastle is never a bad time!
I think I have never looked at a weather forecast website so diligently till I started living in the UK, sometimes it’s accurate and most times, you just have got to go with the flow but I guess it is part of the charm?
The sales were still on last Sunday, so we spent the morning hunting down last minute deals. My dear friend Dr R has just received her Phd, and suggested going to Barluga on Grey Street to celebrate.
She is obsessed with their roast dinners. I mean you normally can’t go wrong with a roast dinner, it is so quintessentially English!
After a day of shopping, that is all the encouragement I require. Also, any excuse to eat yummy food. I mean, it’s not that tough of a choice.

Barluga is located on Grey Street, Newcastle – voted one of the prettiest streets in the UK, this restaurant is seriously picturesque. It has high ceilings, spacious and very charming. I can see myself coming here at night for a drink or two.

We rushed for an early dinner at around 5pm last Sunday as they only serve roast dinners till 6pm or till it runs out.
I don’t think I have ever run for a roast dinner before – guess there’s always a first for everything!

Look how gorgeous the decor is – columns and chandeliers! A potential place date night or ladies luncheon.

Dr R just got herself a new IPhone 6 so I hijacked her phone and took all of these pictures with it.
Don’t you just love the black & white filter function?

They have a great selection of cocktails, a variety from the cosmos & martinis to the red, white wine and Champagne but we decided to stay on the healthy side and stick with water.

I had the Roast pork which came with crackling, roast potatoes, mash potato, Yorkshire pudding, steamed veg, stuffing, and gravy. Being greedy as I am, I also ordered an extra side of roast potatoes!
The pork was succulent and came with two slices, the Yorkshire pudding was the best! It tasted homemade and crispy and oh my god, I will go back just to have this again.

Dr R had the half roast chicken with extra vegetables and roast potatoes.

I cannot help but think why I haven’t been here for food before but I am definitely coming back for more.

I was so stuffed and satisfied.
I don’t know how to explain this, but the closest thing I can explain is that this meal tasted very homely!
Also if you register to their mailing list, they will occasionally send through offers/discounts!
I hope I win this meal for 2 in their monthly draw – fingers and toes crossed!
