Before visiting Greece, there are a few things that will make your trip significantly easier and help you avoid common mistakes.

- The currency is the Euro (€).
- Cards are widely accepted across Greece, but it is still worth carrying some cash, particularly in smaller villages, local bakeries, family-run tavernas and beach bars.
- ATMs are easy to find throughout most tourist destinations.

April to June
Pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds and excellent sightseeing weather.
July and August
Peak season with hot temperatures, busy beaches and higher hotel prices.
September and October
One of the best times to visit, with warm sea temperatures, fewer crowds and excellent weather.
💸 How Much Does a Trip to Greece Cost?
Greece isn’t as expensive as people assume, but costs can vary a lot depending on whether you’re visiting the islands, mainland cities, or staying in peak summer season.
Here’s a realistic breakdown based on mid-range travel:
🏨 Accommodation
£70–£180 per night (mid-range hotels & boutique stays) and approx over 200 for resorts or luxury stays
- Budget guesthouses: approx £40–£80
- Mid-range hotels: approx £80–£180
- Boutique & luxury stays (Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes): approx £200+
👉 Island locations (especially Santorini & Mykonos) are usually more expensive than mainland Greece or less touristy islands like Rhodes or Naxos.
🏛️ Attractions
£0–£20 per site (These are rough estimates) And prices vary depending on age, students, and if you are a EU citizen or not.
- Many beaches and viewpoints are completely free (sunbeds are generally not in public beaches).
- Archaeological sites: Approx £5–£20
- Museums: Approx £5–£15
