Warhammer world, a lore and a world that only if you understand it will excite you to the core. But wait. How about for the first timers? I can attest to this, it is very fascinating. Though yes it helps that Henry Cavill will be producing a series on Amazon soon then all of us mere mortals can delve into the world of Warhammer in greater detail.
For both the experienced and first timers, Warhammer World in Nottingham is quite the attraction to visit when you are in Nottingham.
How do we get to Warhammer World you ask? Well it was surprisingly easy, there’s always an Uber option from the city centre and surprisingly when it’s normal price (non surge), it costs around £5. And with surge prices which happened on our way back to the city centre was aroun £7 for us. Otherwise you can take a tram and it will drop you off about 7 minute walk to Warhammer World. If you drive then that will be very easy and there’s quite a bit of parking available within the complex.
How was Warhammer World in Nottingham?
I visited with my partner who is a huge fan of their books, and loves the characters. For me, I’m a complete newbie and to be honest still don’t really know what it is all about. I do appreciate everyone passion for it and it’s really lovely to see. The best part was that those with whom I have spoken with did not judge me and was very friendly and eager to talk about it.
To my understanding, it was a huge warehouse like place located just outside of Nottingham city centre.
Greeted with a huge sign and a tank plus a “Space Marine”, an iron chonky looking soldier. Had to take snaps of all this. My partner was incredibly giddy with excitement. It was a Saturday when we visited and to my surprise or maybe I shouldn’t be, it was busy!
What’s the entry fee for Warhammer World?
If you like to go in, I assumed it was free to venture into Merchandise area and to Bugmans which was the tavern like pub where you get food and drinks.
To visit the exhibition which I do recommend even though you have no interest in the miniatures (Miniatures are the figurines that they have and you can buy, assemble and paint them), and as a complete newbie, the exhibition is incredible. For those who are avid fans, the amount of ohh and ahh and excitement from the people that were at the exhibition was insane and it was so lovely to see. This was for both adults and kids alike.
For an adult, the price for the exhibition is £8.50, and kids under 11 can go in for free.
They even have an LOTR section in the exhibition!
The amount of manpower they used to create these ‘armies’ and assemble and painted them, some of them are incredibly tiny- there’s no way my fat fingers can do them. If only I have their patience too haha.
What’s their accessibility like?
Pretty good. I went with crutches due to having screws in my ankle and the receptionist told me how to get around without me even asking which I sincerely appreciated. There’s a ramp leading to the main door. the main reception area is spacious for a wheelchair. There is a lift as well and 2 accessible toilets as well.
There are stairs leading to the merch area upstairs which is the same level as Bugmans and the event room where they hold tournaments at times. There is a lift to get there easily. For the exhibition, you will have to further up to see a part of the exhibition as well if you are on a wheelchair. With a wheelchair, keep in mind that I feel the main exhibition rooms are bit of a tight squeeze if its a particularly busy time. For crutches, it was easier.
What can you do there for a non fan of Warhammer?
Going with one of the biggest fan I know, my partner haha is so much fun. You can feel his excitement and the people around you. There’s so many people from around the world, there was a group of french people there and some Americans as well. It’s so nice to see.
Do appreciate how complex and the time taken to create the armies and the showcase. I notice how they thought of every single bit of area in each showcase, each section telling a story. Very impressive.
And there’s a section where you can take a minature and paint it, there’s staff on hand that will guide and help you too. I really wanted to do it but it was filled with kids doing it, maybe it’s for kids only I’m not sure but we are all someone’s kids right haha!
For all of you competitive people, look out for a poster that tells you to find 3 assassins in the massive exhibition area, and if you find it, take a picture and show it to a staff and you can get a free miniature!

Having food and drinks at Bugmans
After an hour at the exhibition, it’s time for food. Head over the second floor, pass the event hall and you arrive at Bugmans. The decor is incredible, it looks like a tavern complete with a throne. Decked out with Warhammer gear on the walls, and if you are lucky, you can sit at the back bench with awesome wall mural.
The menu looks good, very creative with the Warhammer esq drinks and food. It’s quite pub like with American options like Chicken and Waffles. Their beer though, great selection, They serve the beer that they sell in the merch shop too. Psst get the ale!
Tried getting root beer but it was sold out :(. Pepsi it is for me. Ale for my Partner.
Ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of cider sauce and fried egg for £14.95. It was not what I was expecting. Normally you get fresh waffle with fried chicken leg or breast, you know with bone or a fillet. Instead, I got possibly something from birds eye with standard waffles and cider sauce. It was reminiscent of a certain pub that has a utensil in its name.
Now now can’t judge too quickly. The chicken was surprisingly flavourful, it had good taste! The waffles were sweet and bit hard under the moisture of the chicken, and it wasn’t too bad. 2 big pieces of chicken and 2 waffles, the chicken was the star. The fried egg though…..let’s say I did not get the runny yolk, maybe next time.
Partner ordered the Bugmans stack burger with nice portion of chips and huge onion rings on the side for approx £16.50. Triple meat stack, Aberdeen Angus beef patty, grilled chicken breast and pulled pork with mozzarella on brioche bread. He thoroughly enjoyed it! It was not bad at all. The chips were great. The onion rings were bit hard but not too bad.
And for those of you with kids, they have a kids menu as well. And a vegetarian and one vegan option that I can see.
If you want to enjoy the atmosphere, grab an ale or beer or a soda and enjoy the area. It’s a nice option to have especially if you are staying for a long time and can’t drive anywhere else.
Overall, a lovely attraction, definitely something different. For fans, a must visit of course and there’s always events at times so it’s nice to keep a lookout for those.
They also have free water dispenser just outside the entrance of Bugmans which is so so good of them to provide, it can get hot in there for me anyway or stuffy rather.
Overall, it was a great fun experience and definitely new for me, My partner enjoyed it so much and thankfully the sun was out too. Probably spent a longer time at the merch section than the exhibition.
About the merch shop, we thought they would sell clothing item such as shirts but they don’t anymore, they now sell them only online. In store, you can get miniatures, board games, a leather pint mug which was made in Durham and real leather too! For me, they are all pricey but for a fan probably worth it. You can get a 2 pound coin souvenir for the place too.
Took the Megabus back to Newcastle Upon Tyne and that in itself is a story so till the next time.
