Hotels and Resorts
Every hotel review on this site comes from a genuine stay.
I pay for my accommodation (or use my own points/miles), I experience the same check-in process you will, I sleep in the actual rooms, and I give you honest opinions. If something's overpriced or disappointing, I'll tell you. If it's brilliant value, I'll rave about it.
If it is a press trip or a sponsored stay, I will disclose it and be upfront but the company knows I will provide an honest blunt review.
What I look for in accommodation:
Location: Can you actually walk to things or are you stuck in the suburbs needing taxis everywhere?
Value: Not just "is it cheap" but "is it worth what you're paying?" A £200/night hotel can be great value if it's spectacular. A £50/night hotel can be terrible value if it's grim.
Cleanliness: Non-negotiable. If it's not clean, I won't recommend it.
Staff: Are they helpful or do they act like you're bothering them?
The Practical Stuff: WiFi, shower pressure, bed comfort, noise levels, air conditioning - the things that actually matter when you're staying somewhere.
Breakfast: If included, is it worth getting up for or should you just hit the nearest cafe?
If I recommend a hotel, it's because I genuinely think you should stay there. Simple as that.
