Puppy Love at Dog and Scone in Newcastle Upon Tyne : Dog Cafe

21/07/2017 · In: Newcastle Upon Tyne

  115

Guess what! Newcastle has its very own Dog Cafe called Dog and Scone! Yes, seriously! I am not kidding with you! It exists!

If you are wondering what a dog cafe is….well…let me tell you. It’s a cafe which serves coffee and tea and sandwiches, with dogs running around and you get to play with them!

The trend started in Japan, where to my knowledge, people work very long hours and some of them can’t have pets due to lack of time (working) or lack of space in their homes. Therefore, they can visit the dog cafe and play with the dogs and pretend they are their own pets in a way.

Which is similar to my position, I’m not allowed to keep pets in my apartment and it’s not the time for a pet as yet in my life so this is super perfect!

Disclaimer: Be prepared! The following pictures are filled with super cuteness and fluffy dogs. Of course, all animals are happy and well taken care of by their watchful owners and staff! Also please do read their rules carefully on their website. Also I paid to visit them on my own accord and hopefully this post will be a fun read for you.

Website: Dog & Scone

Address: 22 Pudding Chare, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1UE

Be sure to include Dog and Scone in Newcastle on your next trip and do visit other places in Newcastle Upon Tyne while you here.

⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ Dakota Newcastle (By the Quayside, this one is new to the scene and from what I have seen so far, its the poshest one but looks very nice if you feel like splashing out) : Click here for rates & availability.

⭐⭐⭐ Kabannas Newcastle – Clean, simple, hostel with choices of sharing and individual and nice vibes from what I was told, and about 20 minutes walk to the stadium(depends how fast you walk)

Dog and Scone Experience: what to expect

As we enter the cafe, we were greeted with enthusiasm from the staff and pups alike. Then briefed with the house rules and enter.

Meet the six puppies they have in the Dog and Scone! Seven dogs now as of April 2024 and they now have a pom, teacup yorkie, long haired mini dachshund, long haired Chihuahua and more.

A cheeky poodle emerges, giving itself a quick shake before approaching us…

On the bench, I spotted one of the staff cradling what I thought was a baby but actually….. a snoring pug!

And everyone else joined in!!

This lady is quite possibly the dog whisperer!

A pug who sleeps and snores with her eyes open! When I arrived at 3 pm, this pug called Laughing has been asleep and still sleeping till I left. She was happy for us to carry her and passed around but I couldn’t resist taking a picture of her snoring with her eyes open! She does look demonic like this though…..

Look at her cute ears!!

I adore Coffee the Corgi! Corgis are one of my favourite dogs, they just look so happy! This little one happens to be exhausted when I came, all he wanted was sleep and I want a cuddle. Compromise and he happily slept on my lap with lots of belly rubs! (Note from 2024, Coffee has officially retired now and they have new pups in).

This little munchkin is always up for cuddles, I was told to take one of the blankets provided and lay it out on your lap and she will approach you which she did!

It’s such a hard life….or a dog’s life …

Cheeky Monkey! I saw you!!! So nosy haha!

Dog & Scone Dog Cafe Newcastle ->www.whatsupcourtney.com #dog #dogcafe #poodle

So engrossed playing with the pups that we almost forgot to drink our coffee!

Research does say that playing with dogs helps with depression and anxiety, and I’m not one to disagree!

I adore dogs and one day hopes to adopt one in the near future.

How much is it to visit Dog and Scone?

If you like to visit this dog cafe, they are located in Pudding Chare in Newcastle Upon Tyne. There is a £6 entry fee and they require a £2 deposit to secure the table and then you pay the additional £4 at your appointment. This is for one session which is approx 55 minutes according to their website. They say if you like to cancel or rearrange to definitely call them 24 hours prior minimum so best to keep that in mind just in case.

It’s always best to check their website and read their house rules and policy beforehand. It is advisable to book on their website as they do go quite fast but definitely worth it if I say so myself. And they serve food and drinks in the cafe itself.

Woof till the next time! Oh and random but check out their toilet, it’s very pugalicious!
