Places to eat
I'm in love with food, trying new food and places to eat. Not in a fancy Michelin-star-chasing way, but in a "where do locals actually eat" and "what's genuinely delicious without being overpriced" way. Don't get me wrong, I do love a Michelin restaurant when I can afford it.
Every restaurant, cafes, and street food stall on this site is somewhere I've actually eaten. I'm not copying recommendations from other blogs or writing about places based on their Instagram feed. These are real reviews from real meals.
You will find suggestions on places to eat in different cities and countries, restaurant reviews to places I have visited while travelling or locally in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
What makes a restaurant recommendation-worthy:
The Food: Obviously. Does it taste good? Is it fresh? Is it worth what you're paying?
Value: £50 per person can be excellent value if the food's spectacular. £15 can be terrible value if it's mediocre and tiny portions.
Atmosphere: Is it a lovely experience or are you eating in a soulless room with fluorescent lights?
Service: Friendly and helpful or pretentious and slow?
The "Would I Go Back?" Test: This is the ultimate measure. Would I spend my own money eating here again? If not, I probably won't recommend it to you.
If I recommend a restaurant, it's because I genuinely think you should eat there. The food's good, the value's fair, and I'd happily go back.
